CD Videos & Manuals
These
materials will help you study at home before, during, or after your
hunter education certification course. The videos (from Silvertip
Productions) are used in thousands of hunter education courses taught
across North America each year. Outdoor Empire manuals are used
as part of official hunter education programs in many states and
provinces. After the course, use the CD and manuals for refreshers
before the season. All materials are based on the standards for
hunter education in North America.

If you
do not have Quicktime on your computer you can install it from
the CD.
The program
will run in your browser, but you do not have to be online to
use it. It opens automatically in Windows. On Macs, you will need
to launch the program.

CD Video
This 5-minute
video explains why hunter education courses are offered, who sponsors
them, and how they are funded.
Hunting Safety CD Video
This 24-minute
video covers firearm safety, transportation, handling firearms
in the field, safe shot selection, hunter visibility, safety considerations
for treestand hunting, archery, blackpowder firearms, firearm
safety in the home, matching guns and ammunition, safely cleaning
firearms, clearing barrels of obstructions, crossing obstacles,
avoiding alcohol, and zones of fire.
Hunter
Responsibility CD Video
The 24-minute
hunter responsibility video covers self-respect, respect for the
resource, other hunters, landowners, and non-hunters. Students are
also exposed to the benefits of belonging to national and local
conservation groups. Features actual film footage of President Theodore
Roosevelt. Theodore Roosevelt was an avid hunter and widely revered
as the president who did more to conserve wild things and wild places
than any other president before or since.

The 17-minute
Outdoor Safety video covers outdoor safety practices related to
physical health and conditioning, survival, hypothermia, heat exhaustion,
heart attacks, falls, boating accidents, and more. Important points
are driven home by the use of actual news footage of rescues and
survival situations.

Hunting Success CD Video
The 13-minute
Hunting Success video helps students integrate their hunting knowledge,
skills, and attitudes into the ability to go out and safely pursue
game with increased chances to harvest animals. One overarching
principle that underlies all of the videos is that safe, enjoyable
hunts are successful hunts. Sometimes, hunters get game and that
is an added bonus. Students also learn about hunting techniques
and game care.
